Liverpool are actively pursuing Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez and Ajax's Jorrel Hato to strengthen their defense ahead of the 2025–26 season. Kerkez, a 21-year-old Hungarian left-back, has impressed with his performances in the Premier League, contributing two goals and six assists this season. Liverpool views him as a long-term successor to Andy Robertson, with Bournemouth reportedly valuing him at around £45 million.
Jorrel Hato, an 18-year-old Dutch defender, has emerged as another target for Liverpool. Capable of playing both center-back and left-back, Hato has become a key player for Ajax, even captaining the team in European competition at just 17. His versatility and maturity make him an attractive option for Liverpool, especially as they seek to bolster their defensive options. Hato recently extended his contract with Ajax until 2028, indicating the Dutch club's desire to retain him, but Liverpool's interest remains strong.

In addition to defensive reinforcements, Liverpool are close to securing the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen. The 24-year-old right-back has been a standout performer in the Bundesliga, known for his attacking prowess and defensive solidity. Frimpong's arrival is intended to fill up the void of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The deal is reportedly in its final stages, with personal terms agreed and only formalities remaining.
Liverpool is also intensifying efforts to sign Florian Wirtz, Bayer Leverkusen's 22-year-old attacking midfielder. Wirtz is considered one of Germany's brightest talents and has attracted interest from Bayern Munich. However, Liverpool have made a significant push, with club executives meeting Wirtz's family and securing financial backing from Fenway Sports Group to compete for his signature. A decision from Wirtz is expected within the next ten days, with Liverpool hopeful of adding him to their ranks.
