Former Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is all set to ply his trade in the Major League Soccer’s (MLS) side Los Angeles FC in the summer this year. The Inter Milan forward will leave the Italian club at the end of the season after playing at the San Siro for three seasons. Before his first appearance for the club, The Falcons unveiled the first look of Giroud in their official team jersey.
The 37-year-old France forward, who made his move to the Italian club in 2021 from the English club Chelsea, helped his side clinch the Serie A title after a gap of 11 years. In the ongoing season for Simone Inzaghi’s side, Giroud has scored 14 goals in 33 games.
Los Angeles FC posted a video clip of Olivier Giroud in their official jersey, where the Frenchman was seemingly excited to join the American league and acknowledged the fans of the club. He said, “Hi 3252, I’m looking forward to seeing you guys at the stadium soon. I hope the boys will do well until I arrive and I will do my best to help the team to reach our target. Let’s go Black and Gold.”
LAFC Co-President and General Manager, John Thoorington also shared his excitement to welcome the French international and heaped praise for the striker. “His championship ambition and his qualities as a man and as a player directly align with ours as a club,” he said.
Olivier Giroud has played 131 matches for his national side and is the highest goal scorer for the country with 57 goals. He was also part of the French squad that went on to lift the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
