Real Madrid is on the cusp of a potential rebuild at the start of the upcoming season. With uncertainty looming over Carlo Ancelotti’s future and a rather dismal season in terms of success, Madrid will surely look to bolster their squad before the new campaign begins. And along with this, there are certain names that seem to be on the exit list for Los Blancos. According to reports, one of these names is club captain Lucas Vasquez. Vasquez’s current contract runs until June 2025, and it is being reported that the club is not looking to offer a contract extension to the Spaniard.
Vasquez has been a great utility player for Real Madrid this season, especially after the injury to first-choice right-back and club captain Dani Carvajal, playing in his right-back position. With 2 goals and 7 assists so far, Vasquez can be said to have had a decent outing with Real Madrid. However, the speculated arrival of Trent Alexander Arnold, who recently announced that he is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, coupled with Carvajal’s return from injury, could see Vasquez fall down the pecking order.
Luka Modric, Rodrygo and David Alaba could also leave in this coming summer: Reports
In such a case, the club would not like to renew his contract and let him leave on a free transfer. Vasquez isn’t the only name on Madrid’s ‘exit list’, with Luka Modric, Rodrygo and David Alaba also being tipped to leave. Luka Modric’s case in understandable given his age, but Rodrygo is said to be unhappy with his role at the club following Mbappe’s arrival this season. Top clubs like Arsenal have shown interest in the young Brazilian, casting doubts over his future at Madrid.
Alaba on the other hand, has been prone to very frequent injuries and might be leaving the club in this upcoming transfer window. The rise of Raul Asencio has already increased the competition for the centre-back spots in the team and it is also being reported that Real Madrid are planning to sign Arsenal’s William Saliba in the summer transfer window.
