Real Madrid is set to play Celta Vigo at 5:30pm IST on May 4 at the Santiago Bernabeu in matchday 34 of LaLiga. The fixture is extremely crucial for Los Blancos are they are currently trailing table-toppers FC Barcelona by 4 points with only 5 matches remaining in the current campaign. However, they have been dealt some significant blows to their squad due to injuries and other reasons and the latest name added to that list is Brazilian winger Rodrygo. The 24-year-old has been excluded from Madrid’s squad for the Celta game.
While there hasn’t been any official statement about the reason for Rodrygo’s absence; reports have suggested that he is down with a fever and therefore has been left out of the squad. This has only added to Madrid woes as they are already facing an injury crisis with almost their entire first-choice backline sidelined. Carvajal, Rudiger, Militao, Alaba, Mendy and Camavinga are all set to miss this match for Madrid in what is an extremely crucial period for the title race.
We will give it all until the end: Ancelotti speaks about LaLiga title race with 5 games remaining
Carlo Ancelotti has already called up several defenders from the youth team to replace these injured players and some fresh faces are expected to start against Celta Vigo. Rodrygo’s absence further weakens the team strength with Brahim Diaz or Arda Guler expected to slot in and fill in Rodrygo’s void. Speaking to the media in the pre-match press conference, Ancelotti spoke about multiple topics including his latest managerial saga around Real Madrid and the Brazil national team along with his thoughts on the LaLiga title race.
Ancelotti believes that the title race is far from over yet and he is confident that his team will go all out to challenge Barcelona at the top of the table. He said, “We didn't have a spectacular season. But we still have 5 games left and you can be sure we won't give up, we will give it all until the end.” This could be Madrid’s last chance to salvage some success from this season after losing out on the Champions League and Copa Del Rey.
