One of the most premium sales in the Premier Leagues last summer was Aston Villa offloading Douglas Luiz, who had been very impactful in the previous two seasons for them. He was sold to Juventus for £45 million, but the defensive midfielder has struggled to make that consistent impact for the Serie A side. In his 27 appearances for the club, he failed to score and to assist. Amid such dismal performances it is reported that Juventus is looking for options to let Luiz go.

In a report by Football Insider, Manchester United have registered their interest in signing Douglas Luiz this summer. It is another club to enter the contest to sign the 27-year-old Brazilian with Everton, Leeds, Nottingham Forest, and Crystal Palace reportedly interested in him. The report claims that Manchester United are willing to negotiate a loan-to-buy deal with Juventus, placing them firmly ahead of Everton in the race to reach an agreement.

Juventus seem to be keen to offload Luiz this summer after tough outing last season

Everton’s reported interest would prefer to sign Douglas on loan rather than committing to a permanent deal given the finances involved. Juventus are keen to offload Luiz this summer and are considering their options, but prefer to accept permanent offers rather than letting him leave on a short-term basis. Douglas Luiz had plenty of Premier League experience, making over 200 appearances for Villa, scoring 22 goals and providing 24 assists in a spell of five years at the club. He plays as a defensive midfielder who likes to hold possession and slow the game down.

United can capitalize on Luiz’s ability to win the ball consistently. His current team Juventus are also reportedly in talks over a deal to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United, and so the Red Devils could make an offer for Luiz by offering Sancho who is worth £25 million, while Luiz, despite being signed over for £40 million, has reportedly a current market value of £26 million.
