Mason Mount posted an emotional video on social media to confirm that he has decided to leave Chelsea, after spending 18 years at the club. It has been reported that the England international has decided to join Manchester United and has been signed for USD 69 million. The midfielder who was a part of the 2021 Champions League-winning team, Chelsea has earned 36 caps for his national team.

The 24-year-old joined Chelsea when he was merely six years old, and later went on to earn a huge fandom with his 195 matches and 33 goals. In 2017, Mount was named the club’s Academy Player of the Year, and the First Team Player of the Award in 2021 and 2022.  Bidding an emotional farewell to the Chelsea fans, Mount said, “Hi Chelsea fans, Given the speculations over the last six months, this may not come as a surprise to you. But it doesn’t make it any easier to tell you that I have made the decision to leave Chelsea.”

Mount further said, “I feel you deserve more than just a written statement, so I wanted to tell you directly how grateful I have been for all of your support over the last 18 years. I know some of you won’t be happy with my decision, but it’s what’s right for me at this moment of my career.”

Talking about his career at Chelsea, Mount said, “I joined Chelsea when I was six years old and we have been through a lot together. Winning the Youth Cup, my Player of the Year awards, the Super Cup, the Club World Cup, and of course, that unforgettable night when we won the Champions League.”

Mount thanked everyone who was a part of his journey, including his fans. He went on to say, “I want to say thank you to the academy, Jim and Neil for being so influential to me from such a young age, the managers I have worked under, Frank, Thomas, and Graham. The backroom staff, the unsung heroes of Cobham, all my teammates for over the years that have become my brothers. My family for the continuous love and support, and most importantly you guys, for sticking with me throughout. Wish you all the best.

As Mount joined Man United for the upcoming season, the Red Devils took to their official Twitter handle and posted a video of the English midfielder in his new outfit. Man United captioned, " The excitement is mounting. "

Mount’s contract at Man United will have the option to get extended for further 12 months. The club will also pay $6.3 million to Chelsea based on Mount meeting a few targets.
