The officials from Manchester United and RB Leipzig are in the last stage of the discussion to transfer striker Benjamin Sesko. There is a willingness between the two parties to have an agreement with guaranteed payment of £66.3 million, with the rest made up through performance-related add-ons, totaling to £74 million. RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko will now undergo the final steps of the transfer process, including a medical, before officially completing his move to Manchester United.
The 22-year-old Slovenian forward, who was also a target for Newcastle, has scored 39 goals in 87 appearances for RB Leipzig. Manchester United have already bolstered their attack this summer by signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for a combined fee of approximately £130 million.
If everything goes as per the plan, Sesko may become Manchester United’s third attacking acquisition of the summer, following the £62.5 million signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves and the £71 million capture of Bryan Mbeumo. Last season’s primary striker, Rasmus Hojlund, has been put on the transfer list with a price tag of around £30 million, after managing only 14 Premier League goals over two seasons.
Manchester United deal with Benjamin Sesko benefits the club
On August 5, Manchester United submitted a £73 million offer for Benjamin Sesko, which also included some add-ons. Ideally, the club hopes to finalize the deal in time to unveil Sesko at Old Trafford this Saturday before their friendly against Fiorentina, similar to how they introduced Rasmus Hojlund in 2023. However, United’s urgency isn’t just about creating a feel good moment.
Meanwhile, fans are awaiting the Premier League season, with United set to face Arsenal at Old Trafford next weekend. Manager Ruben Amorim is eager to involve Sesko in some capacity, but the striker will first need to complete training sessions at Carrington and demonstrate his match fitness.
