With the speculations around the Asia Cup 2025’s future in jeopardy going rife, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief, Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday, July 26 confirmed the dates of the upcoming edition, which will be held in September. The tournament, which will be played in the T20 format this year, will be played from September 9 with the final set to be held on September 28.

The entire 20-day tournament will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with India having the hosting rights. Notably, the decision from the ACC Chair comes after the Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was held on July 24 and 25 in Dhaka, in which there was no representation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

Asia Cup 2025 to be played from Setember 9 to 28 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Taking to X, Mohsin Naqvi, who succeeded the current ICC Chairman and former BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, wrote, “I am delighted to confirm the dates for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 in UAE. The prestigious tournament will take place from September 9th to 28th . We look forward to a spectacular display of cricket!” He further confirmed that the complete schedule to the tournament will be “out soon”.

It is to be noted that the tournament will see teams from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, UAE, Oman and Hong Kong participate. Although, the entire schedule is yet to be announced, there still remains doubt over India playing Pakistan after the legends of the game, India Champions refrained from playing Pakistan in the ongoing World Championship of Legends.

The decision from the veterans came seeing the ongoing cross-border tensions between the two neighbouring nations after the recent Pahalgam terror attacks, which even halted the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
