Five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have started their preparations for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025, and all eyes are on their star wicketkeeper batter MS Dhoni. The former CSK captain is set to play one more season of the cash-rich league starting on March 22. However, there are reports that Dhoni is likely to use new bats in IPL 2025.

As per the reports by New Indian Express, MS Dhoni is expected to play with a bat weighing between 1250-1300 grams with the weight getting reduced to 10 to 20 grams. Notably, Dhoni is known for playing with heaviest of bats during his prime days. "Four bats have been delivered to Dhoni recently by Sanspareils Greenlands Pvt. Ltd., the cricket equipment company from Meerut," the report said. 

CSK pre-season camp expected to start after March 9

Talking about Chennai Super Kings, a source from the management of the franchise has mentioned that the BCCI has given instruction to not use M.A Chidambaram Stadium for training purposes till March 9. This means that CSK will begin their pre-season camp for IPL 2025 after March 9. The Ruturaj Gaikwad led side will begin their campaign with a match against Mumbai Indians in Chennai on March 23. 

"The schedule of training has not been finalised yet. Anyway, the MA Chidambaram Stadium cannot be used for training purposes till March 9 as the BCCI has given strict instructions to maintain the venue in optimal conditions," a source from CSK management was quoted as saying by India Today.
