The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025 didn’t turn out to be a great one for the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings as they finished last in the points table with just four wins and 10 losses in 14 matches. However, the fans still come to support CSK throughout the season with one of the main reasons being MS Dhoni. The star wicket-keeper batter took charge as captain again in IPL 2025 after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out due to finger injury after the first three matches.
Young wicketkeeper batter Urvil Patel was also a part of CSK in IPL 2025 after the franchise called him as a replacement for injured Vansh Bedi. Patel went on to play three matches in IPL 2025 amassing 68 runs from three matches at a strike rate of 212.50. Recently, Patel revealed how he convinced his father to come and watch him play because of MS Dhoni.
“My parents hesitate to watch me play. I told my father that whether you watch the game or not, I want you to meet Mahi bhai. My father then especially came to watch the match because of him," Urvil Patel revealed in his latest interview with GC Podcast on YouTube.

Speaking further, Urvil Patel also recalled how MS Dhoni met his parents and it turned out to be a special moment for everyone. He also opened up on his experience while playing for CSK in IPL 2025 and how he approached while going to bat.
“He enjoyed it because there were a lot of families, and Kasi Sir was also there. There was an introduction and all, so he enjoyed it. At last, we met Mahi bhai at the hotel and it was a special moment for everyone," Urvil Patel said.
“At first, I thought there would be a lot of crowds. There will be pressure, but I don’t know why, but when I made my debut, I didn’t think about anything. I felt like I was playing in domestics," he further added.
