The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) reduced the sentence of eleven sportspersons, including three National Games athletes after they admitted their offence. The list includes the names of sportspersons who failed their doping test and admitted their offence within 20 days of being charged. NADA revealed that the players were liable to get banned for four years, but their sentences were reduced by a year due to early acceptance of guilt earlier this month.

The players were handed reduced sanctions of three years under Article 10.8 of the NADA Rules. The list of the players includes three track-and-field athletes including Kamaljeet Kaur (100m and 200m), Ajay Kumar (5000m and 10000m), and Harjodhvir Singh (5000m and 10000m). All three of them failed dope tests in the October 25-November 9 Nationals Games that were held in Goa. 

Article 10.8.1 of the NADA Anti-Doping Rules allows players charged with a four-year ban to benefit from a year reduction if they accept the violation and accept the charges within 20 days of being charged. Similarly, article 10.8.2 enables an opportunity for the athlete to get into a Case Resolution Agreement with the NADA and WADA, where the applicable period of ineligibility can be agreed upon. 

Kamaljeet of Punjab had tested positive for Drostanolone, a synthetic anabolic steroid, whereas Ajay Kumar tested positive for Darbepoetin and Morphine. In addition, Three weightlifters including Priyadarshani Thuram Mithlesh Sonkar, and a minor tested positive for consuming banned substances.
