Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has received a two-game suspension for his Instagram Live video, where he was seen flaunting a gun at a nightclub early Saturday morning. NBA has launched an investigation into the Murray State alumni.

The Grizzlies released a statement addressing Morant’s actions and stated that he "will be away from the team for at least the next two games.” Under this suspension, Morant will miss the games against Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday and the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.
NBA spokesperson Mike Bass commented on the incident and spoke on how the league is taking all required action on the incident. He said, "We are aware of a social media post involving Ja Morant and are investigating."
Similarly, Ja Morant also released his own statement taking full responsibility for his actions. The 2022-23 all-star also issued an apology to his teammates, coaches and fans for disappointing actions. He further stated he will be taking a break to improve himself and delve into better methods of dealing with stress.
The statement read, "I take full responsibility for my actions last night. I'm sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis and the entire organization for letting you down. I'm going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being."
Morant started his Instagram Live after Memphis lost 113-97 to the Denver Nuggets at around 5:19 a.m. ET. In the video, Morant was shirtless and was seen rapping with the music and holding up a handgun with his left hand. Hours after the incident, Morant deactivated his Instagram and Twitter accounts on Saturday afternoon.
