The Mumbai Indians hosted the reigning champions Chennai Super Kings in match 29 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 14. The IPL ‘El Classico’ saw the defending champions come out on top to register a 20-run win, courtesy a disciplined bowling from Matheesha Pathirana and some crucial knocks from Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni.

While Gaikwad played a 40-ball 69, Shivam Dube continued his onslaught in IPL 2024 with an unbeaten 66 off 38 balls. To conclude the CSK inning, it was MS Dhoni show in Mumbai, who smashed three back-to-back sixes off Hardik Pandya in the final over. The 42-year-old, who took the field after Daryl Mitchell’s wicket in the final over, smashed three sixes in a row and played a four-ball 20, taking CSK to a daunting total.

Not only MS Dhoni’s finishing role came into action once again, leaving the fans awestruck, the match, which was also watched by celebrities from the Bollywood industry, were too left stunned by the heroics from one of the greats of the game. Neha Dhupia, Kareena Kapoor Khan, John Abraham and Angad Bedi, who were present in the stands were left in awe of MS Dhoni’s hitting.

Moreover, Angad Bedi’s wife and Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia was left mouth open seeing Dhoni smash back-to-back sixes off Hardik Pandya’s over, video of which is going viral.

After CSK’s dominating win over MI at the Wankhede Stadium, Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia shared highlights from the match. Taking to social media, the Bollywood celebrity captioned the post, “My very own #highlights from last evening! Love the sport 🏏 loved the energy … loved our #crew 😉”.

It is to be noted that after their 20-run win over MI, CSK continued their third-place dominance in the IPL 2024 standings, whereas MI, who were placed seventh, dropped a place to eighth position. The reigning champion will now take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, April 19.
