Rajasthan Royals leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who is having a sensational season in the Indian Premier League revealed the name of his favourite IPL captain, and to everyone’s surprise, it isn’t Virat Kohli. After participating in the cash-rich league under Royal Challengers Bangalore for eight years, Chahal was picked by the Rajasthan-based franchise in the 2022 IPL auction.
Yuzvendra, or Yuzi, as he is called by his teammates and fans across the nation, has played under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Sanju Samson across IPL and international cricket. On being asked about his favourite captain for his games for India, he had a tough decision making a choice, but he was clear about his favourite IPL captain.
In an interaction with the Humans of Bombay, Yuzvendra chose Samson over Kohli as his favourite IPL captain, whom he played under for eight years in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He also said that he feels Samson is like MS Dhoni, and it is one of the reasons Samson is his top pick as IPL captain.
He said, "I think maine, jitne bhi captains, teeno captains ke under khela hun, unse voh liberty mili hai as a bowler, jo ek bowler chahta hai. Chahe voh Mahi bhai ho, Virat bhaiya ho ya Rohit Bhai. Mujhe voh ek cheez mili hai (I think, all three captains whom I have played under, I have gotten that liberty that a bowler requires, whether it's Mahi bhai, Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma. So yeah, that's the one thing I have gotten."
