Novak Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam champion, defeated third seed Alexander Zverev from Germany in the quarter-finals with a scoreline of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 on Wednesday, June 4. The 38-year-old Serbian, who is seeded sixth at the event, has set up a semi-finals clash against Italian world number one Jannik Sinner, which will be played at the Court Philippe Chatrier in just two days time, finding himself just two wins away from the elusive 25th Grand Slam title.

The winner of three French Open titles, Novak Djokovic, 38, had a tough start in the first set, getting his service broken in the first game before losing it. But, from that point onwards, Djokovic didn’t drop his serve to Alexander Zverev, surviving a 41-shot rally to deny a break point to the German when he was 3-2 up in the fourth set, ensuring that the contest wasn’t dragged to the fifth and deciding set.

My way of playing is based on running, but at my age it's not so easy to run so much: Novak Djokovic

After winning the match in four sets, Novak Djokovic was quoted as saying, as per BBC Sport, “My way of playing is based on running, but at my age it's not so easy to run so much.” But now, Djokovic will have to face an even tougher challenge in Jannik Sinner, who hasn’t dropped a set in the French Open till now, winning the quarter-finals match against Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan with a scoreline of 6-1, 7-5, 6-0.

While Novak Djokovic is looking to add another Grand Slam to his tally, Jannik Sinner is yet to win the French Open after his best performance at the event came last year, but he ended up losing the semi-finals to eventual champion from Spain Carlos Alcaraz in five sets. Moreover, in the other semi-finals at the Roland Garros this year, number two seed Alcaraz is set to take on Italian Lorenzo Musetti, who is seeded eighth, on Friday, June 6.
