New Zealand batter Corey Anderson celebrated new year in style in 2014, after he smashed the fastest ODI hundred at that time in a match against West Indies in Queenstown on January 1. During the third ODI of a five-match ODI series, New Zealand amassed a runfest against Windies in an rain-affected encounter as the match was reduced to 21 overs per side. For New Zealand, Jesse Ryder and Corey Anderson shone with their respective centuries. 

Batting first, New Zealand lost their first wicket early, Martin Guptill got out after scoring just one win in seven balls. After that, Jesse Ryder and skipper Brendon McCullum added 51 runs for the second wicket. McCullum got out after a quickfire 33(11) runs with three fours and as many sixes. After a few overs, Corey Anderson joined Ryder at the crease as the duo took charge of the Windies’ bowlers from both ends.

Jesse Ryder and Corey Anderson put up a partnership of 191 runs for the fourth wicket in just 75 balls. Ryder was the first batter to his hundred as he got out after smashing 104(51) runs with 12 fours and five sixes. After that, Anderson went on to complete his triple figures in just 36 balls, which was the fastest at that time, before South Africa’s AB de Villiers broke the record with 31-ball hundred in 2015.

Corey Anderson smashed an unbeaten 131*(47) runs hitting six fours and 14 sixes as New Zealand posted 283/4 in just 21 overs. West Indies could only score 124 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 21 overs as New Zealand registered a mammoth win by 159 runs. Skipper Dwayne Bravo was the top scorer with 56*(54) runs, hitting three fours and as many sixes. For New Zealand, Mitchell McClenaghan took two scalps, while Kyle Mills, Jesse Ryder and Jimmy Neesham scalped a wicket each.
