Earlier this month, Pakistan welcomed an ICC event after nearly three decades to host the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. Although, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) secured the hosting rights, but it was forced to move into a hybrid model after the Indian cricket team decided to not travel to Pakistan for the marquee tournament, citing security concerns.

Although, the Men in Green were knocked out of the tournament within a span of six days after losing back-to-back matches, New Zealand’s five-wicket win over Bangladesh confirmed the two semi-finalists from Group A. Since their exit, things haven’t been well in the Pakistan cricket team.

Other boards should stop sending their players to IPL: Inzamam-ul-Haq

Talks around India playing all their matches in Dubai also got attention of several eyes. Seeing the domination of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in cricketing world, former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq also could not hold back and asked the other cricketing boards to unite against the Indian board.

Speaking on a Pakistan TV channel, the former Pakistan cricketer took a direct hit at the cash-rich league while adding that other cricketing boards should stop sending their players as India does not let their players participate in other leagues around the world. “Keep aside the Champions Trophy. Top players participate in IPL, but Indian players don’t participate in other leagues. Other boards should stop sending their players to IPL. If you (BCCI) don’t release your players for leagues, then other boards should take a stance," Inzamam-ul-Haq said.

It is to be noted that as per the BCCI guidelines, players of the Indian cricket team aren’t permitted to play in overseas leagues unless the player announces retirement from Indian cricket, which also includes IPL and domestic tournaments.

Speaking of India, the Rohit Sharma-led Team India are currently placed second in the Group A standings. Although, they will lock horns with either of South Africa or Australia in the semi-final in Dubai, seeing the position they finish at in the points table.
