While the eight teams for the ten-team tournament have been finalised, the two teams will be confirmed by July 9 as they are currently playing the Super Six stage of the ICC World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe. While India will play the Group stage of the ODI World Cup across nine different venues, their arch-rivals Pakistan will play across five venues in India which includes Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
In a big update which is doing rounds on social media, the neighbouring country is said to send a delegation to India for inspecting the venues prior to giving clearance to the national team’s travel. It is being speculated that the Pakistan government will give clearance to travel to India for the marquee event.
“The security delegation will go with representation from the PCB to inspect the venues where Pakistan will play and also the security and other arrangements made for them in the World Cup,” an official source in the Inter provincial Coordination (Sports) Ministry said as quoted by Sportstar.
“The delegation will interact with the officials there and discuss and inspect with them the security and other arrangements for our players, officials, fans and media, who will go for the tournament,” he added.
The Men in Green will only travel to India after its government’s clearance to the PCB. Talking more about the Babar Azam led side, they are set to play the two qualifying teams before locking horns with India on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
