Dhaka Capitals went on to register their second win in the 2024-25 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after they defeated Sylhet Strikers by six runs in a high-scoring encounter at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Monday, January 20. For the Capitals, Litton Das shone with an innings of 70 runs, and skipper Thisara Perera also played a quick-fire knock as they posted 196/6 in their 20 overs. In reply, Sylhet Strikers also fought hard with the bat, but they were restricted at 190/7.

Coming to bat first after winning the toss, Dhaka Capitals lost their first wicket at the score of 28 runs in 3.5 overs as Tanzid Hasan got out after scoring 22(16) runs. The Capitals went on to lose two more quick wickets of Jean-Pierre Kotze and Mosaddek Hossain. After that, Litton Das and Sabbir Rahman added 42 runs for the fourth wicket. Rahman got out on 24(21) runs before skipper Thisara Perera joined Litton Das at the crease.

Litton Das and Thisara Perera guide Dhaka Capitals to big total

After Dhaka Capitals were reduced to 104/4 in 14.3 overs, Litton Das and Thisara Perera put up a partnership of 81 runs inside five overs. Litton got out after scoring 70(48) hitting four fours and as many sixes, while Perera scored quickfire 37(17) runs with three fours and as many sixes, which led to Dhaka posting 196/6 total on the board at the end of their 20 overs. For Sylhet Strikers, Tipu Sultan and Samiullah Shinwari took two scalps each, while Ruyel Miah and Sumon Khan scalped a wicket each.

Chasing the winning target, Rony Talukdar top scored with 68(44) runs, while Aaron James contributed with 36(32) runs. Apart from that Jaker Ali and Ariful Haque also scored quickfire 28(13) and 29(13) respectively. However, it wasn’t enough as Sylhet Strikers fell short of just six runs. For Dhaka Capitals, skipper Thisara Perera and Mustafizur Rahman scalped two wickets each, while Mosaddek Hossain and Mukidal Islam scalped a wicket each.
