
Star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took charge for Saurashtra on day one of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy clash against Delhi at Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) Stadium in Rajkot. The left-arm spinner took a five-wicket haul as Saurashtra bowled Delhi out for 188 runs in the first innings. For Delhi, skipper Ayush Badoni scored a fighting half-century as Delhi were able to cross 180 runs. On the other hand, wicket keeper batter Rishabh Pant, who was playing a Ranji match after seven years, failed to score a big knock as he was dismissed for just one run.
Coming to bat first after winning the toss, Delhi had a poor start as Arpit Rana went back after a six-ball duck. Sanat Sangwan also got out after scoring 12(28) runs as Delhi lost two wickets for 34 runs. After that, Yash Dhull and skipper Ayush Badoni took charge of the innings as the duo put up a partnership of 51 runs for the third wicket. Badoni got out after scoring 44 runs off 76 balls, hitting eight boundaries. Rishabh Pant also went back cheaply after scoring just 1 run in 10 balls. However, Badoni went on to play a captain’s knock of 60(78) runs with five fours and two sixes.

Mayank Jitender Gusain also remained unbeaten on 38*(45) runs as Delhi were bowled out for 188 runs in 49.4 overs on day one. Playing his first Ranji game after January 2023, Ravindra Jadeja shone with figures of 5/66, while Dharmendrasinh Jadeja took three and skipper Jaydev Unadkat and Yuvrajsinh Dodiya scalped a wicket each.
In reply to Delhi’s 188 runs, Saurashtra also lost their three wickets for 78 runs. After that, Harvik Desai and Ravindra Jadeja added 82 runs for the fourth wicket. Jadeja got out after scoring 38(36) runs ,while Desai was just seven runs behind his century. The opening batter remained unbeaten on 93*(120) runs, hitting eight boundaries at the close of play on day one. He will continue to bat along with Arpit Vasavada (3 off 14) on day two of the match.
