India Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the family of his party colleague Arun Jaitley's son Rohit Jaitley at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg (7LKM) in New Delhi. Rohan Jaitley, who is also the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) President, registered his presence along with his spouse Meherunissa Anand, his daughter, his mother Sangeeta Jaitley, and sister Sonali Jaitley Bakhshi. Arun Jaitley served as DDCA President for 14 years. In 2020, when Rajat Sharma resigned from the post midway without completing his term, Rohan was elected unopposed. In December 2024, he defeated former India cricketer and Lok Sabha MP Kirti Azad and got elected for the third time to handle the top post.
Rohan’s tenure has been successful as under his leadership, DDCA organised five ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 games. It was under his stint that the launch of the Delhi Premier League took place in 2024.
DDCA to host a Test match between India and West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in October
DDCA has the task to host the Test match between India and West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium from October 10 to 14. The Windies side will start their campaign against the home side with the first Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium from October 2 to 6. Before hosting the red-ball game between India and West Indies, DDCa will also organise the Women’s One-Day International match between India and Australia on September 20.
DDCA will also look to get the T20 World Cup 2026 matches from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to host. India, along with their southern neighbours Sri Lanka, will be hosting the upcoming marquee event. A total of 55 matches will be played in the competition.
