Young Indian batter Nitish Kumar Reddy has been impressive in his debut Test tour down under. The 21-year-old was among India’s top scorers in the series with 298 runs in five matches, including a famous ton in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. Nitish has also impressed in the three T20I matches he has played for India so far amassing 90 runs at an average of 45. However, he is yet to make his debut for India in the ODI format. Former, India chief selector MSK Prasad believes that Nitish Kumar Reddy should be added to India’s ODI lineup soon with Champions Trophy around the corner. India are scheduled to play a three-match ODI series at home against England which will be their last assignment in the 50-over format ahead of the mega event in Pakistan and Dubai.
MSK Prasad said that the ODI series against England could be a great opportunity to give Nitish Kumar Reddy a maiden ODI call up looking at his current form and make him a key contender for India’s Champions Trophy squad. “People often say that ODIs are a perfect blend of Test cricket’s resilience and T20 cricket’s explosiveness. Nitish has proven to be a rare combination of class and aggression, excelling across formats in his short but impactful international career. Having already seized opportunities in T20s and Tests, Nitish’s exceptional form and versatility make a strong case for his inclusion in India’s upcoming ODI squad against England. His consistency and ability to rise to the occasion also position him as a key contender for a spot in the Champions Trophy squad," MSK Prasad was quoted as saying by Crictracker.
