The much-awaited announcement is finally out as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have revealed their captain for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. Star batter Rajat Patidar has been announced as a skipper for the upcoming season of the cash-rich league. There were many speculations whether Virat Kohli will come back as captain or not. However, RCB have put an end to all the rumors as Patidar is set to take charge in 2025. 

Rajat Patidar has been a crucial member of the RCB squad from the last few years and has also shown  great captaincy skills in the domestic season last year. He led Madhya Pradesh to the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2024. Apart from that, Patidar also shone with the bat finishing as second highest run getter in the season with 428 runs at an average of 61.14. 

 

 

Rajat Patidar’s stint with RCB 

Rajat Patidar made his IPL debut in 2021 after he was picked by RCB for INR 20 Lakhs in the auction. He didn’t have a great season that year as he could only score 71 runs in four matches. However, Patidar came as an improved  batter in IPL 2022 where he amassed 333 runs in eight matches at an average of 55.50 with a strike rate of 152.75. He also scored a match-winning ton in the Eliminator against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and helped RCB to make to the qualifier two. 

Rajat Patidar has played 27 matches in his IPL career for RCB amassing 799 runs at a strike rate of 158.84. Now, the star batter is set to take on a new role in IPL 2025 as he will be seen leading RCB in the upcoming season.
