The much-awaited announcement is on the day Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are set to reveal their captain for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. The announcement will be made on Star Sports channel at 11:30 AM (IST) on February 13. The announcement was made during the live telecast of the recently ended third ODI match between India and England at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Notably, RCB released their former captain Faf du Plessis ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Now, the franchise looks for a new face who could take charge as a skipper in the upcoming season of the cash-rich league. Notably, Virat Kohli comes as front runner to lead RCB again in IPL 2025 being the senior player of the team. Kohli stepped down from the captaincy after the end of IPL 2021. After that, RCB bought Faf du Plessis in the auction and announced him as the skipper ahead of IPL 2022.
Suresh Raina confirms Virat Kohli as captain of RCB in IPL 2025
As RCB are set to announce their skipper for IPL 2025, the fans are assuming which player could take the charge for the upcoming season. However, former cricketer Suresh Raina gave a hint that Virat Kohli could return as captain of RCB in IPL 2025. During his commentary stint for Sports18 during the second ODI between India and England in Cuttack, Raina was quoted as saying ‘He’s captain too this time.’ Raina made this comment when he saw Kohli and Phil Salt, who is RCB’s latest inclusion this year, exchanged smiles during the game.
Fellow commentator Aakash Chopra also left puzzled and asked RCB former batting coach Sanjay Bangar for the confirmation. Kohli has led RCB from 2013 to 2021, leading RCB to the IPL final once in 2016. Now, after three years of leaving the captaincy, Kohli is likely to take charge for RCB again in IPL 2025.
