Manchester United recently concluded, what can be tagged to be a disastrous season for the English club, as they finished 15th in the league table and lost to Tottenham in the Europa League final. Looking ahead, manager Ruben Amorim is now at the cusp of beginning his first full season in-charge with the Red Devils and the squad is expected to undergo a rebuild as well. One of the names who’s position in the club has been under scrutiny is club captain Bruno Fernandes.
Despite a good personal outing with 39 G/A in 57 games for the Portuguese midfielder amidst a poor season for the team, Bruno has been linked to a move away from Old Trafford. Concrete interest and big-money offers from many Saudi Pro League clubs had further intensified these rumours, however manager Ruben Amorim has spoken out about the midfielder’s future recently. Amorim has extended his faith in Fernandez’s commitment to the team and sees him as an integral part of the project he is building.
The good days are coming: Amorim instils sense of belief and confidence amongst team and fans
Speaking to the media about the same, Amorim said, “For sure Bruno takes responsibility. He's really important for us. He’s really important also for what we want to build with this team.” Bruno himself had also spoken on the matter previously saying that he remains fully committed to playing at Manchester United and wants to steer the club to greater glories. Ruben Amorim also had a similar message for fans after United played their final game of the season against Aston Villa on May 25.
During his speech, Amorim accepted the poor run of form the team has had in the previous few months but also assured the fans that the glory days would return. He said, “Today, after this disaster season, I want to tell you: the good days are coming!” His emphatic words lit up the Old Trafford crowd as they cheered on in anticipation of what lies ahead for them in the coming season.
