Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim recently spoke to the press in the pre-match conference for their weekend match against Bournemouth. During the press conference, Amorim issued updates about the fitness of some key players of his team and also spoke about possible returns of these players. United has been riddled with injuries throughout the entire season and the two latest names in the list were Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt. Diallo picked up an ankle injury in early February during a PL clash against Tottenham, while de Ligt was injured at the start of the month during United 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Diallo was reported to be out till mid-May but Amorim has now issued fresh updates stating that the 22-year-old winger will be training with the team as early as next week. He said, “Amad is near, his return is now close.” De Ligt’s injury was a less severe one than Diallo’s and he is also expected to be part of the squad very soon. Amorim said, “Matthijs de Ligt is also close to returning in action from injury.” While the PL campaign remains to be over for the Red Devils, their Europa League campaign offers a chance to win some silverware with a semi-final clash against Athletic Bilbao.

Diogo Dalot possibly ruled out for remainder of season

Everything wasn’t merry during the press-conference as Amorim also issued updates about Diogo Dalot’s recent injury and also stated that there was a possibility that he could be ruled out for the entire season. The 26-year-old wing-back suffered a calf injury and could be potentially sidelined for the remainder of the season. Amorim said, “Diogo will be out for the next games… and it’s possible also for the rest of the season.”

Although Amorim has already said that he will be banking on his youngsters for the remaining PL games, he will turn his head to these experienced names when it comes to the Europa League semi-final tie. And the possible returns of Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt will serve as a big boost for the Portuguese manager.
