The 14th edition of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship is approaching its end, as the final fixture of the tournament is slated to be hosted on July 4, 2023. In the final summit, India will take on Kuwait at the  Sree Kanteerava Stadium of Bengaluru. India men's football team took down Lebanon 4-2 on penalties shootout to make it to the top two. On the flip side, Kuwait took down Bangladesh 1-0 in the other semi-final to grab one spot in the final. 

Speaking about the 2023 edition of the SAFF Championship, a total of eight teams participated in the tournament, three more than the previous edition, held in 2021. Kuwait and Lebanon are the only two non-South Asian teams to participate in the tournament following a special invitation from the All-India Football Federation (AIFF).

Sunil Chhetri-led India will play the final for the 13th time, and ninth in the run. The Indian side have won the tournament in the earlier 13 editions, and the only time they didn’t make it to the top two was in 2003.
