The Indian Premier League (IPL) is coming back with its 18th edition in 2025. In its last 17 editions, there have been several players who got the opportunity to lead their franchise in an IPL season. However, only a few of them were able to lead their teams to IPL titles and are known among the most successful captains in the tournament.
The nine out of 10 teams have confirmed their captains for IPL 2025. Few franchises are going with the experienced players as a skipper while some teams have also given a chance to some new players to take charge in the upcoming season. Talking about their salary, every IPL captain has a different pay range from the other. In the following listicle, we will have a look at the salaries of all 10 IPL captains.
IPL Captains’ Salary
1. Chennai Super Kings - Ruturaj Gaikwad: ₹18 Crore
Ruturaj Gaikwad is set to lead Chennai Super Kings for the second consecutive season in IPL 2025. He was among the top retentions for CSK ahead of the mega auction last year. CSK retained Gaikwad for a whopping ₹18 Crore making him one of the highest paid players for the franchise this year.
2. Mumbai Indians - Hardik Pandya: ₹16.35 Crore
After a controversial season in 2024, the five-time champions Mumbai Indians have still relied on Hardik Pandya to be their skipper in IPL 2025. Making his comeback in the franchise ast year for ₹15 crore, Pandya was again retained by MI for ₹16.35 crore ahead of IPL 2025.
3. Lucknow Super Giants - Rishabh Pant: ₹27 Crore
Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is now the most expensive player in the history of the IPL. After eight years with Delhi Capitals, Pant got a new franchise ahead of IPL 2025 after Lucknow Super Giants acquitted him for a whopping ₹27 Crore in the mega auction. Later, he was appointed as LSG skipper for IPL 2025.
4. Punjab Kings - Shreyas Iyer: ₹26.75 Crore
Punjab Kings are looking like a strong side ahead of IPL 2025 and have also roped in previous-year winning captain Shreyes Iyer for the upcoming season. However, Iyer also shattered all the previous auction records after PBKS bought him for a whopping ₹26.75 Crore in the mega auction.
5. Kolkata Knight Riders - Ajinkya Rahane: ₹1.50 Crore
The defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders are coming with Ajinkya Rahane as their new skipper for IPL 2025. The veteran India batter was roped in for ₹1.5 Crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
6. Royal Challengers Bengaluru - Rajat Patidar: ₹11 Crore
The new era for Royal Challengers Bengaluru is set to start in IPL 2025 as they appointed Rajat Patidar as their skipper for IPL 2025. Apart from that, Patidar also saw a huge increase in his IPL salary this year as RCB retained him for a whopping ₹11 Crore.
7. Rajasthan Royals - Sanju Samson: ₹18 Crore
Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson is set to lead Rajasthan Royals for the fifth consecutive season in IPL 2025. Apart from that, Samson also saw a rise in his IPL salary which got increased to ₹18 Crore ahead of the upcoming edition.
8. Sunrisers Hyderabad - Pat Cummins: ₹18 Crore
Fast bowler Pat Cummins was acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a whopping ₹20.50 Crore ahead of the last edition of the IPL in 2024. He has been retained by SRH again ahead of IPL 2025. However, his IPL salary got reduced to ₹18 Crore.
9. Gujarat Titans - Shubman Gill: ₹16.5 Crore
Shubman Gill was appointed as captain of Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2024 after Hardik Pandya was released. At that time, his IPL salary was ₹8 Crore. Now, GIll’s salary has been doubled ahead of IPL 2025 as GT retained him for ₹16.5 Crore.
10. Delhi Capitals
Notably, Delhi Capitals haven’t announced their skipper for IPL 2025 till now. However, KL Rahul and Axar Patel are among the top contenders to lead DC in the upcoming season.
