The Saurashtra Cricket Association will be postponing the Saurashtra Premier League 2023 citing cyclone Biparjoy which is expected to hit the coast of Gujarat. This cyclone is set to be prevalent, especially in the Saurashtra region in the coming days.
Cyclone Biparjoy has been rampant in the Western region of India, in areas like Rajkot, Gujarat, where the tournament is scheduled to take place. Hence the SCA has decided to push the tournament from the original date of June 15 due to the weather warnings and preventive measures advised by the local authorities.
"We were all set and geared up for Saurashtra Premier League (SPL) 2023 that was scheduled to be played from 15th June to 24th June 2023. Regrettably, due to cyclonic effects in the region, office bearers of Saurashtra Cricket Association have taken decision to postpone it," read a statement from the SCA.
