In-form India youngster, Shubman Gill, who is currently recovering from dengue, will be travelling to Ahmedabad from Chennai on Wednesday, October 11 to continue his recovery. Team India are scheduled to host Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday and Ishan Kishan is expected to continue as the Indian opener alongside skipper Rohit Sharma.
Gill's platelet count dropped below 1,00,000 per microliter on Sunday and was hospitalised in Chennai. Fortunately, the 24-year-old was discharged in a day and continued his recovery in the city as Team India moved to Delhi for their second CWC 2023 clash against Afghanistan. If Gill does not regain full fitness, he might miss the all-important match against Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14.
The News18 CricketNext quoted a BCCI source as saying, "Gill will be travelling to Ahmedabad from Chennai today in a commercial flight. He will continue with recovery and rest there, under the watch of the BCCI medical team."
In a pre-match press conference on October 10 ahead of the match against Afghanistan, India batting coach Vikram Rathour said, "He (Gill) is recovering well. He was hospitalised, yes, but that was more as a precaution. He is back in the hotel; he is recovering well. So, being monitored by the medical team and whatever update we get, we hope he will recover pretty soon. He is looking good actually."
