While the focus was pretty much on Virat Kohli in the first Test match against Sri Lanka in Mohali as it was his 100th Test match, as the game came to a close in 3 days, it will best be remembered for Ravindra Jadeja's all-round performance. The left-arm spinner and left-handed batter was in sensational form both with the bat and ball and was the runaway favourite to win the Player of the Match award. Notably, the Test also marked Rohit Sharma's Test captaincy debut.
The 33-year-old Chennai Super Kings star first starred with the bat and finished unbeaten on 175 before the Team declared the innings. He came back to pick 5/41 in the first Sri Lankan innings before scalping 4/46 after Rohit had asked the visitors to follow on.
Following a dream Test for Jaddu, the Saurashtra cricketer has climbed up the summit of the ICC Test Rankings for all-rounders. Jadeja now has 406 rating points and is ahead of Jason Holder at number 2 who has 382 points. Jadeja's teammate R Ashwin is third on this ranking with 347 rating points.
As soon as the news of Jadeja reaching the summit of the all-rounders ranking was shared, netizens couldn't help but celebrate in their own unique ways.
