India continued their brilliant run at home as they sealed the T20I series 2-1 on Wednesday (February 1) after whitewashing the Kiwis in the three-match ODI series earlier. Indian opener Shubman Gill stole the show in the series decider registering his maiden T20I century, taking India to 168-run win.

After his brilliance batting performance, former India captain and teammate Virat Kohli did not shy away from calling him the “future” of Indian cricket. Kohli in his Instagram story shared an image with Gill with a caption, “Sitara. The future is here @ShubmanGill”.

Talking about the match, Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bat first. On the back of a brilliant century, India registered 234/4 in the 20 overs. However, the New Zealand batters fell like a pack of cards, eventually getting bundled out for 66/10 in 12.1 overs. Skipper Hardik Pandya clinched four wickets while Arshdeep, Umran Malik and Shivam Mavi took two each.
