In the Lord’s Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, Team India veteran opener KL Rahul batted confidently in the first innings. He produced a 100-run knock from his bat which helped India level the scores in the first innings. It was his second Test ton at the iconic venue as he notched up a hundred in the 2021 Test between England and India as well. In the second innings, Rahul’s responsibility was to stand at the crease on day five to help India chase down the total. However, he fell against Ben Stokes and departed after chipping in with his 39.
Rahul’s dismissal added charcoal to fire as wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant already got bowled out by pacer Jofra Archer in the initial phase of the day. Following India’s 22-run loss, Rahul has dropped a post on Instagram in which he put a picture of Team India. He also captioned the post writing, “Some games are more than wins or losses. They test your spirit, your character. And the learnings make you stronger.”
KL Rahul’s batting numbers in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025
KL Rahul has played the role of opener efficiently in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. The 33-year-old has hoarded 375 runs with a couple of hundreds and a fifty in six innings of three contests. These numbers have thrown him in the fourth spot on the chart of batters with most runs in this tournament.
The right-handed batter, along with his opening ally Yashasvi Jaiswal, will be expected to give a fine start to the team in the upcoming do-or-die match in Manchester. Rahul has never played any red-ball match at the Old Trafford as India last contested at this venue against the Alastair Cook-led England in August 2014, when the Karnataka-born opener didn’t make his international Test debut.
