After a prolific run in the domestic cricket circuit in 2024-25 season, batting sensation, Karun Nair has rose to fame in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After being roped in by the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the mega auction in November 2024 for INR 50 Lakh, he got his first game this season against the Mumbai Indians (MI).
In his what was his very first outing in the ongoing edition, Nair smashed 89 off 40 balls, with his innings being laced with 12 fours and five sixes. However, his 89 went in vain as DC lost the match by 12 runs at their own backyard, Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. While it was the team’s first defeat in the 2025 edition, Nair’s knock earned him applause from over.

Amid this, DC co-owner, Parth Jindal also took to X (formerly called Twitter) to hail the Karnataka batter, despite the team result not going in their favour. “Not the greatest of weekends for us - losing the ISL Cup finals after being the better team and then losing to MI when in control however got to watch the most brilliant knock by Karun Nair - don’t think iv seen anyone play better against Bumah @bengalurufc @DelhiCapitals these type of weekends make you realise how in sport nothing is certain - we will work harder and be back stronger”, Parth Jindal wrote in a post on X.
Seeing this, the 33-year-old cricketer, Karun Nair acknowledged the post, while apologising for not finishing the game for his side in IPL. “Thank you so much Parth ���� ❤️ sorry I couldn’t finish the game off ���� ” the Karnataka cricketer replied. In his innings against MI, Nair’s onslaught against Jasprit Bumrah was one to be reckoned.
Speaking of his numbers so far in the league, Nair has amassed 108 runs in three innings at an average of 54 and a strike rate of 207.69. While he has been a regular since DC vs MI match, he played a 18-ball 31-run inning against Gujarat Titans in match number 35 of the IPL 2025, underway at teh Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
