Gokulam Kerala will be looking for another coach next season as Fran Bonet is set to leave the club. A source close to the club has confirmed that he has reached an agreement to terminate his contract after the AFC qualifiers. The Spanish tactician has reportedly already been hunted by many top clubs in the I-League.

It is to be noted that the manager’s first stint in India came with the club Rajasthan United in the 2021-22 season where he guided them to a seventh-place finish in the league with 1.22 points per game. He also caused major upsets along the way beating a strong ISL side in ATK Mohan Bagan during the campaign. He worked with Santa Lucia in the first tier of Guatemala as an assistant manager in 2022 for some time and helped them finish at eighth place in the league that season.

Bonet moved to Gokulam Kerala in 2022 when the team was sixth and helped them to finish at third by the end of the season, just three points behind second-placed Sreenidi Deccan. The 29-year-old has an impressive 1.91 points per game for Gokulam Kerala. Under his leadership, they later beat Mohammedan SC in the Hero Super Cup 2023 qualifiers by a big margin of 5-2 and in the league they beat second placed Sreenidi Deccan 1-0 in March earlier this year.

In the Super Cup, they lost all three group-stage matches as they were placed in a tough group with FC Goa, Jamshedpur, and ATK Mohun Bagan. Even though Bonet lost Luca Miacen to RoundGlass Punjab and Jourdain Fletcher to Neroca FC, who were top contributors for the team to finish third in the league.
