Pathum Nissanka, the Sri Lankan opener, scored back-to-back centuries in the second Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Ground in Colombo during the third session on day two. The right-handed batter brought up the three-figure score on the 167th ball of his innings, to put Sri Lanka in a strong position in pursuit of the 247-run first innings total versus Bangladesh, going past 200 runs with nine wickets in hand.
The fourth Test century of Pathum Nissanka was brought up with a four on the bowling of Bangladeshi pacer Nahid Rana, a punch off the back foot on a short of a good length delivery, which is one of the trademark shots of the right-hander. He is currently building a valuable second wicket stand with the veteran Dinesh Chandimal for Sri Lanka, which is well over 100 runs and going strong.
Sri Lanka have reached 209/1 in 56 overs with Pathum Nissanka (107* off 179) and Dinesh Chandimal (59* off 101) batting together in the middle at the Colombo SSC, looking to take them past the 247-run total set by Bangladesh in the first inning on their own. With the first Test of the two-match series ending in a draw, the hosts Sri Lanka will be pushing to secure a big first innings lead, which will put them in a strong position to win the match and series.
