Stefanos Tsitsipas recorded his maiden ATP title triumph after beating Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final of the 2025 Dubai Tennis Championships. Ahead of the match, the Canadian was the favourite to win the final but the 26-year-old showcased his mettle and delivered stiff competition to Felix. He racked up 6-3, 6-3 figures in the final to break into the record books. The Greek appeared in the final of the distinguished tournament in 2019 and 2020 but lost to illustrious figures Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer respectively.
Aliassime entered the final with 16 victories but in the huge contest, he failed to hold his nerves and lost the game in one hour 28 minutes. The win will help Tsitsipas to enter the world’s top 10 rankings for the first time on Monday, March 3 since May 2024. Following his notable success, Stefanos looked relieved and said he aimed to win the tournament. He also added his diligence and sacrifice led him to the victory which has content him. "It's a big relief that I'm able to hold that trophy after the third attempt. It's something that I had in the back of my mind, and I'm happy to say I accomplished it. To be owning a spot in the top 10 is definitely one of the greatest feelings a tennis player can experience. It comes with hard work and sacrifices, but I'm happy that I'm in a position where I can really celebrate," said Stefanos.
