Google CEO Sundar Pichai was impressed with Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) 14-year-old batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Indian Premier League (IPL) debut against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), on April 19. Vaibhav broke into record books with his appearance against LSG, becoming the youngest IPL debutant in history. The youngster was signed up by RR in the IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah for INR 1.1 crore. In his maiden IPL appearance, he got a chance to open with Yashasvi Jaiswal and played a fine knock of 34 off 20 with a couple of fours and three maximums.

Wonderstruck by Suryavanshi’s debut, Pichai took to his X handle and posted a video of the youngster hitting a maximum on his maiden delivery of the league. He also wrote, “Woke up to watch an 8th grader play in the IPL!!!! What a debut!” Facing his first IPL delivery from Shardul Thakur, Suryavanshi smashed a six and kicked off his league career in a magnificent style.

RR lost their sixth game in IPL 2025 vs LSG

Despite an incredible start from their openers Jaiswal and Suryavanshi, RR failed to chase down a target of 181. The opening pair stitched an 85-run stand off 8.4 overs and started the chase in an aggressive manner. However, RR got unsettled in the final moments of the game to record a two-run defeat.

Avesh Khan emerged as the star of the game as he snatched victory for LSG from the jaws of defeat. He held his nerves and defended nine runs successfully in the final over of the contest. The speedster bagged 3/37 figures in his four-over spell and got the player of the match (POTM) award. With this loss, RR have become the first team to lose six games in this competition. Another defeat might put their campaign in peril.
