After missing the first ODI in Nagpur due to knee issue, Virat Kohli finally made a comeback in the 50-over cricket during the ongoing second ODI against England at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. However, his much awaited comeback in ODIs didn’t go well as the right-hander got out after scoring a mere five runs as India chasing a target of 305 runs to clinch the series in Cuttack.

After bowling England out for 304 runs in 49.5 overs, India got a flying start as skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put up an opening partnership of 136 runs in 16.4 overs. Gill got out after scoring 60(52) runs with nine fours and a maximum. After that, Virat Kohli joined Rohit at the crease.

Coming to play his first ODI match after six months, Virat Kohli was expected to get a big score after the openers gave a great start to the innings. The right-hander also looked in great touch when he got his first runs with a boundary through straight drive against Gus Atkinson in the 18th over. However, his innings couldn’t last long as Adil Rashid trapped him in the 20th over and Phil Salt did no mistake in grabbing the ball behind the stumps. Kohli got out after scoring a mere 5 runs off eight balls as India lost their second wicket at the score of 150 runs in 19.3 overs.
