Not long ago it was reported that Sri Lanka cricketers Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka, and Niroshan Dikwella were sent back from England after violation of bio-bubble rules. The players were suspended as they violated the bio-bubble rules after their three-match T20I series against England. And now Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has informed that these players have reached back home.

It is also being confirmed that the three players are currently quarantining in Negombo. Meanwhile, the rest of the team is under a strict bio-bubble and is participating in the ODI series against England. Earlier, a video had gone viral on social media which proved the bubble breach from the now suspended players. The clip showed Mendis and Dikwella roaming on the street of Durham.

Not only has the Sri Lanka Cricket taken note of the incident, a proper investigation will be undertaken to find out whether there was actual breach or not while a team will check the authenticity of the video.

We will have an enquiry after they are out: SLC official

“We will have an inquiry after they are out of their 14 day quarantine period,” a SLC official said as quoted by The Wire.

Talking about Sri Lanka’s performance in recent times, it has been far from ideal with many former players and well-wishers of Sri Lankan cricket sharing their opinion on the same. Legendary Muttiah Muralitharan even said that looking at the way the island country were whitewashed against England in the T20I series, it did not look like they had ever played cricket. He added that the image of Sri Lanka as a cricket playing country is also getting tarnished.
