Marc Andre Ter Stegen, a German international goalkeeper, plays for FC Barcelona. After four seasons in the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach, making 108 league appearances, Ter Stegen joined Barcelona for €12 million in 2014. He became the first-choice goalkeeper for Barcelona in the 2016-17 season following the departure of Claudio Bravo. He has played over 300 matches for Barcelona throughout his career and has won many major titles, including five Copa Del Rey titles, six La Liga Championships and a Champions League title.

But according to recent reports, Ter Stegen’s future at the club remains uncertain as Barcelona have signed the Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia from Espanyol and they have also managed to extend their contract with the Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny until the year 2027, who was their starting goal-keeper in the previous campaign. Amidst this, Ter Stegen has expressed his desire to remain at the club and fight for the No.1 spot but, Barcelona reportedly do not consider him as part of their plans for the upcoming campaign.

Ter Stegen training alone to start Barcelona pre-season: Reports

Ter Stegen has been training alone since the club’s return to pre-season on Sunday. The club confirmed that the German international was training alone at the gym while the other players of Barcelona were undergoing medical tests in their first team session. Barcelona will be travelling to Japan and South Korea for their pre-season matches. However, it is still not guaranteed if the German goalkeeper will be travelling with the squad.

Joan Garcia and Wojciech Szczesny have been involved in the training sessions this week along with Inaki Pena, who is open for a move away from Barcelona, as his desire remains to find regular minutes. Ter Stegen will be hoping to find regular game-time in the team in order to confirm his place as the starting goalkeeper for the German national team in the World Cup 2026.
