India's 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev has revealed that he wasn't invited to Narendra Modi Stadium for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 final. Ahead of the grand final, reports regarding a special ceremony felicitating all former World Cup-winning captains surfaced. The report also claimed that the captain would receive a special blazer as a token of appreciation.
But shutting down these claims, Kapil Dev, while speaking to ABP News, shared that he wasn't invited to the final. He further shared that the organisers should have also invited the 1983 World Cup-winning team but amidst several responsibilities, the organisers may have forgotten to do so.

Kapil Dev said, “I wasn’t invited there. They didn’t call me so I did not go. As simple as that. I wanted the whole ’83 team to be there with me but I guess due to the fact that it’s such a big event and people are so busy handling responsibilities, sometimes they forget.”
Talking about the final, Team India had a troubled performance as Australia picked up regular wickets throughout the first innings. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul managed to score half-centuries while others struggled to get going on a difficult track.
