After India's win over England in the third Test at Ahmedabad inside two days, the pitch used at the Narendra Modi Stadium has become a matter of great debate. Several members of the cricket fraternity have expressed their views on the pitch. While most former English cricketers and pundits had criticised the pitch, veteran Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon has now come out in defence of the surface.

Lyon said that when teams play on seaming tracks around the world, getting dismissed for low scores like 47, 60, nobody seems to say a thing. But as soon as as the ball starts turning, everyone in the world seems to have a problem with that pitch. Lyon further said he is even planning to take the curator for this pitch to the MCG so that they can some spin even at that surface.
The 33-year-old termed the third Test between India and England as "entertaining" and said that he is up for these kind of tracks in the future.
Ashwin tosses a doosra at reporter ahead of the final Test
Ahead of the final Test at Ahmedabad, Ravichandran Ashwin had a completely different take to the pitch. When a journalist asked if it was a good surface, the spin veteran was quick to ask back what is a good surface and who defines it? Ashwin emphasised the need to get over these things for better contest between the skillsets on offer. Earlier, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had also come out in defence of the pitch.
