The Indian Premier League (IPL) witnessed a major coaching shuffle on Friday, as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) announced the appointment of Andy Flower as their new head coach ahead of the 2024 season. Flower had been the head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the last two seasons, and the former franchise left a cheeky reply under RCB’s announcement.

Flower's move to RCB came as a surprise to many, as he had led LSG to the playoffs in both, their debut and second season. Under his guidance, LSG emerged as one of the most consistent and balanced teams in the IPL, with captain KL Rahul leading from the front with the bat and mentor Gautam Gambhir providing valuable inputs.
However, Flower's stint with LSG also had its share of controversies, as Gautam Gambhir and pacer Naveen-ul Haq were involved in an argument with RCB star Virat Kohli. Now, Flower will have changed camps and will work with Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis. The incident has sparked a new banter as LSG dropped in a cheeky tweet, saying, “This should be fun. Go well, Andy” with a side eye emoji, indicating that the rivalry that started last season is here to stay.
Meanwhile, LSG recently named Justin Langer as their new head coach. Langer will work to maintain the team's impressive record and finally complete the journey to the championship. Langer has extensive experience coaching T20 cricket, having led Perth Scorchers to three Big Bash League championships, despite never having held a coaching position in the IPL. In 2021, Australia won the T20 World Cup for the first time with him serving as their head coach.
