The Hundred’s 2025 edition is less than a week away and eight teams are gearing up to win the distinguished trophy. Northern Superchargers, who couldn’t reach the knockouts last year, are expected to play quality cricket after going under the ownership of the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad’s parent company Sun TV Network. This year, The Sun Group bought 100% stake of the Superchargers’ franchise and became the third team to own a side in The Hundred. Before SRH, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after investing in Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals respectively.

Days ahead of The Hundred 2025, SRH have released a video through X, in which Kaviya Maran can be seen explaining why the Sun Group became a part of The Hundred. The video is captioned "This team is yours, Orange Army" - Ms. Kaviya Kalanithi Maran. In the clip, Kaviya says, "England has always been a cricketing powerhouse so when they opened up for investment, it was an obvious choice to be a part of their cricketing legacy. We’re here to build something brave and exciting and English cricket feels like a perfect place to do it."

She also urged fans to support Superchargers. "We want this team to represent the north and every kid watching should believe that could be me some day. This team is your Orange Army. Every wicket, every run, every record we break, it’s for you. Let’s light up the North together," added Kaviya.

Northern Superchargers to kick off The Hundred 2025 campaign on August 7

 

Northern Superchargers will start their The Hundred 2025 journey against Welsh Fire in Leeds on August 7. Last year, the game between Fire and Superchargers ended with no result due to rain.

Both Welsh and Superchargers have played four games against each other in which the former have an upper hand with a couple of wins off four outings. Welsh tasted success in 2021 and 2023. In 2022, Superchargers beat Fire by six wickets in Cardiff.
