Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head coach Daniel Vettori praised his team’s batting unit for superb batting performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, on May 19. In the contest against Rishabh Pant’s team, Sunrisers batted magnificently and pulled off the huge score of 206 in just 18.2 overs to record the highest run chase in Lucknow. In the Orange Army’s six-wicket win, their opener Abhishek Sharma stepped up and chipped in with a swift 59 off 20. The southpaw’s sensational batting show also made him the recipient of the Player of the Match (POTM) award.
Appearing in the post-match conference, Vettori looked satisfied with his team’s batting performance in the game. Apart from that, the former Kiwi cricketer also hailed Abhishek’s effort at the start of the second innings. “This was our most complete performance with the bat this season. I’m incredibly satisfied with the intent, execution, and composure. Abhishek gave us the perfect start, but the calm finishing from the other batters who understood their roles well was equally crucial,” said Vettori.
SRH’s next challenge is against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 23
SRH will next clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 23. Both teams will take on each other for the first time in the competition. In their last meeting in Bengalur4 in 2025, SRH scripted history by erecting the highest IPL team total of 287/3 on the board. Travis Head broke into record books for smashing the fastest ton for Hyderabad, with his 39-ball hundred.
Hyderabad are already out of the playoffs race but they can pose a threat to RCB’s aim of ending the round-robin stage at the top two of the points table. Currently, Challengers are in the second spot on the tally, with 17 points earned through eight wins in 12 matches.
