MS Dhoni is undoubtedly the most successful captain in the history of the Indian Premier League, leading his team to win the title trophy four times. He recently played his 200th game as the captain of the team in the tournament. Though rumours always had it that the Chennai skipper is likely to retire from the tournament after the ongoing season, former CSK player Kedhar Jadhav has given his confirmation on the speculation. Kedar has made a straightforward remark on the retirement of ‘Thala’, who has played 238 IPL games so far.
The 41-year-old cricketing legend, who is potentially playing his final IPL this year hasn’t given any confirmation yet. However, his former teammate has made it certain that Dhoni is going to retire from IPL after this season.
Speaking to a news channel, he said, “I am telling you this with 2,000 per cent certainty that this will be MS Dhoni’s final season as a player in IPL. Dhoni will turn 42 this July. Although still fit, Dhoni is also a human after all. So, I think this will be his final season. Fans shouldn’t be missing any of his matches, they should be watching every ball he’s in the field.”
Dhoni enjoys a huge global fan following, with a different kind of fandom among Chennai fans, who affectionately refer to him as ‘Thala’. With a massive viewers’ attendance in the stadium, Dhoni’s 200th match as captain also witnessed a huge digital viewership. Jadhav, who is also a JioCinema IPL expert said that the digital viewership skyrocketed when Dhoni came to bat during the CSK vs RR game and reached to 2.2 Crore.
