Golf
Indian golfers, Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar, finished their campaign outside the medal places in the women’s golf event at the Paris Olympics 2024. At the Le Golf National, Lydia Ko of New Zealand won the gold medal ahead of Esther Henseleit of Germany and Lin Xiyu of China, who had to settle for the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Wrestling
Indian wrestler Reetika Hooda suffered an unexpected defeat against Aiperi Medet Kyzy of Kyrgyzstan in the women’s 76kg freestyle wrestling quarterfinal at Paris Olympics 2024 . Reetika, India’s sixth and final wrestler at the Summer Games 2024 was defeated by her top-seeded counterpart with a scoreline of 1-1. Hooda could have qualified for the repechage round, had her rival made it to the finals. However, with Kyzy's defeat in the semis, India's last medal hopes ended. Earlier in the day, Hooda moved past her Hungarian counterpart with a scoreline of 12-2.
Table Tennis
China won their fifth consecutive gold in the women’s table tennis team event. The women's team of Chen Meng, Wang Manyu, and Sun Yingsha won gold in Tokyo and this time, they took down Japanese counterparts to record a dominant 3-0 victory. Earlier, South Korea won the bronze medal.
Modern Pentathlon
Egypt’s Ahmed El Gendy won gold medal in the modern pentathlon, while setting a new world record score. He took the yellow metal home with a new record score of 1,555 points.
Weightlifting
Solfrid Koanda won the women’s 81kg weightlifting event, marking Norway’s first gold medal in weightlifting since the 1972 Games. She did it with a snatch of 121kg and a clean & jerk Olympic record 154kg. Her total, 275kg, is also a new Olympic record.
