Taylor Fritz knocked out two-time champion, Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinal of the Monte Carlo Masters to advance to the semis. He is set to play his first-ever semifinal against Andrey Rublev on Saturday. Greek tennis star Tsitsipas, who is also the defending champion, was never in the mix against Fritz. The American tennis player has reached the last four of any Masters event for the first time in his career.
Tsitsipas made it to the quarterfinals with a 12-0 match winning streak, but his inning was cut short against the American in one hour and 12 minutes as the latter won 6-2, 6-4.
What caught people’s attention was the message he wrote on the camera following his victory over Stefanos. In his message, which was his response to Stefanos’s message written earlier, he wrote, “USA Clay ???” A day earlier, Stefanos, after winning over Nicolas Jerry, wrote, "Clay court in the US is like a unicorn on a skateboard."
