Several sports personalities have lost their Twitter blue tick overnight after the social media platform began removing the legacy checkmarks

The Twitter verified badge or blue tick has been removed from Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and MS Dhoni’s Twitter accounts. Virat Kohli is the 23rd most-followed person on the platform with 55 million followers.

This action is a part of the legacy verification tick removal process and the official Twitter Verified account tweeted yesterday that it is going to remove the tick from all the legacy accounts and if have to continue being verified they have to pay the subscription fee. 

Elon Musk -owned company started removing the legacy verified blue ticks last year when it introduced an eight dollars per month subscription fee for Twitter Blue. Elon Musk has indicated recently that he himself pays the eight dollars fee for the subscription.

Twitter Blue has other features like the option to edit tweets, longer tweets, longer videos, Half ads, and many more. Cricket Legend Sachin Tendulkar and footballer Cristiano Ronaldo have also lost their blue ticks while  Basketball player Lebron has his blue tick intact which indicates he is subscribed to Twitter Blue.
